About
FlipSideMag.org is a publication of Citizen X Inc. a non-profit youth media organization seeking to provide young people, ages 15 through 25, the chance to explore their community and put proper journalistic methods and tools to work to report what they find. The program is located in Room 222 of the 2nd April Art Galerie annex, 324 Cleveland Ave. NW, in Canton. Emails should be directed to ricksenften@flipsidemag.org, and phone calls can be made to (330) 232-4551.
Citizen X and its first online publication, BRsq.org, were founded in 2008 to provide young people their first chance to become involved with media. Hand-in-hand with that goal was a quest to teach citizenship through the exercise of the First Amendment and other laws that afford citizens the right to monitor their government and communities. The premise undergirding the work of Citizen X: This is the community you’ll inherit. Is it the community it needs to be for the next generation? What works, and what needs work?
FlipSideMag.org has replaced BRsq.org. As a creation of CitizenX, it seeks to partner with local schools and social service organizations with youth development components. Its mission is a response to the state of scholastic journalism in the United States, where dwindling school funds and lack of school administration support create obstacles to full-bodied scholastic media programs.

Contributors to FlipSideMag.org get their own business cards to share their work and to identify themselves as reporters.
Since its beginning, Citizen X has provided approximately 100 young people the opportunity to learn journalism and mass media principles and techniques, improve their work and publish it for a Stark County, Ohio, audience of 383,000 people and countless more beyond the county’s borders. The young people of Citizen X and its programs will perform their work in accordance with the best practices and legal standards of the field. Citizen X accepts responsibility for all published material generated by program participants.
The youth staff makes all content decisions and reserves the right to reject outside contributions and comment that is deemed libelous, obscene, factually incorrect, personally abusive or invasive or a promotion of self-harm.
